5. By the way, dengan menjalankan playoff, at least SPFC terselamatkan & akan tetap melaju ke AFC Cup sebagai juara IPL.

Those Dreams, Alms & Youth Development Program

Ramadhan has just ended but the vibe is still all around us. One of the thing that always stick with the soul of Ramadhan is 'shadaqah' or giving out alms. During the month of Ramadhan, we are encouraged to undertake this divinely rewarded act as often as possible. The highly valued alms are the one given out to the orphans, especially to those needy orphans. However, somehow, I'm planning of putting my next alms for those needy orphans effectively. It has to coincide with the grand program, not just simply handing out those bills and leave the matters at hand unknowingly. I want to give to those needy orphans something that they need for the future, which mostly are education and skill honing. I'm thinking of matching my next alms with the Youth Development Program (Pembinaan Usia Dini).

It has been months that our grudges toward the lack of our national team achievement is mainly caused by the lack of focus in the youth development. No program has been implemented effectively, let alone having a feasible competition. Despite our youth national team track record that has been recorded well in the international tournament, which they can match up to any team from any big country in soccer, yet, it doesn't add up at Indonesian senior level. The Indonesian federation seems to have a gap that continuously supply the player, any best player, to the senior level. Somehow, at the senior level, the availability of the player filling up the squad are the residue ones. Well, those who played well at the youth level, mostly are the ones from a better off family, which they will skip soccer when they reach maturity as other vocations are more feasible than being a professional soccer player.

I have to step in, urging everyone of us who have concerns to step in.

My grand proposal is to give a chance to those needy orphans to have a shot in becoming something useful for him/her as well as the country. My grand proposal is to channel the fund of our alms (if we choose to do so) effectively.

At the scratch, first, what should we do is to categorize and list down all the potential local SSB (Sekolah Sepak Bola), youth soccer academy. We have to know their history, method as well as vision. Rank them. Then, when we find the top five or top tiers within the rank we devised, setup a discussion with their management, as if we are planning to send our kids to that respective SSB. Secondly, while doing the ranking, we also collect names from the local orphanage, of a boy and a girl, of their liking and hobby. We prioritize with those kids who are eager to play soccer, or at least have a dream to see their favorite international soccer player. A dream is a must component in here as well. We list them down, and we will have a chat heart to heart with them. At the end, we will know what they want as we expect them to express what they want. Surely, the list will shift after the chat or discussion, but it is definitely effective.

Then, we will know how much is needed for one kid's education and training. With the vision intact, we will know how much alms we can generate to have the kid's dream realized. If any will object to this cause because we do prioritizing, I will answer to that objection that we don't do anything wrong in regard to any law, especially Islamic law. We prioritize because we want to be effective. There is nothing wrong against effectiveness. Perhaps, any of those kids is dreaming to become a great ballet dancer. Then, anyone who have concern in ballet and would love to see the kid to perform internationally or have a career in ballet dancing should the one who step in, channeling his/her alms for this kid. The listing down is to have a comprehensive list, to be useful for anyone who have a specific concern. It is only that, for some of us, we are concern more toward soccer, or soccerhood.

We will stress out the need to reach out to those who in needs in an effective way. It's always start with a dream. Those kids have dreams, their own dreams, not just a dream of someone's else instill in them. This proposal is also my dream, and I would like it to become our grand dream. It is a dream that we can associate with the vision of Indonesian future. Ameen.

The Japanese Occupation Period Begins

After delaying for quite some time, finally, yesterday, July 19th, with the list of the newspapers during those period that I made several months back, I start to dig the microfilm at the national library with the news around those period of time.

The first headline of Asia Raja (Asia Raya as it pronounced today) newspaper, April 29th 1942, was Tenno Haika Banzai! The picture of Emperor Hirohito on top of his white horse was the picture of the front page, accompanied the headline. The editorial staffs were mixed of the Japanese propagandist as well as the natives. Most of the native editorial staffs of this propaganda newspaper came from the staffs of Parindra daily publication, Berita Oemoem. Even the layout of Asia Raja has reminded me with the layout of Berita Oemoem. Inside, there is also an introduction of the Japanese language as well as alphabet and how it is being pronounced. It is to be found everyday in one of the pages inside.

My First KRL Journey

Pasar Minggu Station
I've heard recently that Jakarta commuter railway line has improved its service. Therefore, yesterday, I bought their e-ticket card, one of the new service offered, valued Rp. 30k of journey refillable. Next thing for me would be to find a specific destination. Since, today is a Friday, I might as well try a journey that takes me from Pasar Minggu Station to Djuanda Station, next to the grand mosque of Istiqlal, for the Jumat prayer.

Istiglal Mosque with Monas & Jakarta skylines
In anticipation, I went to the Pasar Minggu Station more than an hour before the beginning of the prayer time. I arrived around 10.45, and I didn't have to wait for long for the next train to Jakarta Kota is just around the corner. The train leaves at 10.52. I wasn't sure whether it was the exact train schedule or not since there is no information board regarding departing and arriving time. One hour was sufficient enough since regular car traffic in Jakarta usually takes more than an hour to reach this part of Jakarta from Kemang or Pasar Minggu area. If I arrive early, then chilling out inside the grand mosque would be fine since I have my tablet to play around while waiting for adzan. But if I arrive right about the time of the prayer, then it was what I had expected. However, the train reached Djuanda Station, the station next to the Grand Mosque of Istiqlal, around 11.16. So, it only took 25 minutes to reach this part of Jakarta.

What happened to the lost time when we travel by the road? It is being solved urbanely. The commuter line is there, the railway line has always been there. Use it!

Djuanda Station
The railway track line, except the elevated ones, were built during the time of the Dutch occupation in Indonesia, while Jakarta still being called Batavia. The Dutch created the network of transportations to cater the influx of the urban masses, making Batavia well interconnected. They somehow had a vision about their Batavia in the future. Too bad, after the independence, we, Indonesian, don't utilize them to the utmost, preferring more in building highways and more roads, creating a city space that cater more to the use of the burning fossil fuels. More of railway networks, not only in Jakarta, are being abandoned. Until recently, it is being revamped as its traffic problem require a quick solution. I just wished that this kind of mass transportation is being concentrated even more to tackle Jakarta's traffic problem. It's never too late. It just need someone up there, in the local or the central government, to concentrate and handle more this matter of transportation.

Use KRL, it takes you faster to Jakarta! That's my slogan (or our future slogan)
